Kick Off Your Weekend with John Carpenter’s “Live: Retrospective”
John Carpenter gets the most credit for his work as a director, but seasoned movie buffs know to also give him credit for his compositions. Sure, he directed some of the most iconic and groundbreaking horror films of all-time like “Halloween” and “The Fog” and action movies like “Escape from New York” and “Big Trouble in Little China.”
However, he also has a composer credit for each one of those movies and many others. These days, the iconic movie maven has turned toward his equally impressive musical talents by embarking on a new journey as a solo artist and celebrating the iconic soundtracks that accompany his famous movies plus some new tunes that fans have never heard before with the release of his Lost Themes albums. If you’re a fan of the man’s film and music making, you’ll get a rare opportunity to enjoy both in his legendary presence.
The Majestic Theatre, in conjunction with the Texas Theatre, the Alamo Drafthouse and the Texas Frightmare Weekend, will host a “Live Retrospective” of Carpenter’s films and music with a live performance and screening of the scores of his most famous movies as well as some of his newer compositions at 8 p.m. Friday, June 24.
